FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Category 1: General questions and legal status
1. What is investment gold and how does it differ from jewellery?
Answer: Investment gold consists of high-purity bars and coins (at least 99.5% for bars and 90.0% for coins). Unlike jewellery, its value is tied directly to the exchange rate of gold (the spot price) with a minimal manufacturing markup (premium). It carries no artistic markup and is exempt from VAT.
2. Are investment coins legal tender?
Answer: Yes. Most investment coins (such as the "Vienna Philharmonic", "Maple Leaf" and "Krugerrand") are issued by state mints and carry an official face value in local currency (for example €100 or 50 Canadian dollars). Counterfeiting such coins is prosecuted as a state crime, which gives investors additional legal protection.
3. Which laws govern the circulation of investment gold in the EU?
Answer: In the European Union, the circulation of investment gold is governed by EU Council Directive 2006/112/EC (articles 344–347), which fully exempts it from VAT in all EU member states.
Category 2: Prices, spreads and rate locking
4. What determines the price of coins and bars on your website?
Answer: Prices on the website update in real time every second and are calculated by the formula: Price = the global spot rate of the metal (London PM Fix) + the mint premium + the EUR/USD rate. The premium covers the costs of refining, minting, logistics, insurance and a small dealer margin.
5. What is "Price Lock" and how does it work?
Answer: The metals market is volatile. To protect you from rate fluctuations during your purchase, we lock the price: when you place your order, the price of the selected items is fixed, and you have 15 minutes to pay for the order at that price. The price stays unchanged even if the exchange rate of gold moves sharply. The available payment methods are listed on the Payment & Delivery page.
6. Are there any hidden fees or charges when buying?
Answer: No. All our website prices are fully transparent. The amount shown in the cart is final. Shipping costs are calculated and shown before you confirm the order.
7. Why does the buying price of coins differ from their selling (buyback) price?
Answer: The difference between the dealer's selling price and the buyback price is called the spread. The spread covers the company's operating costs, logistics, authenticity testing on intake and the risk of market-rate changes. For the most popular gold coins the spread is minimal (usually 2% to 5%).
Category 3: Payment methods and taxes
8. Are gold coins and bars subject to VAT in the EU?
Answer: Gold bars (purity ≥ 99.5%) and gold coins (purity ≥ 90%, minted after 1800) are fully exempt from VAT (0%). Silver and platinum are subject to the standard VAT rate applicable in the country of purchase.
9. Which payment methods do you accept?
Answer: We accept payment by bank transfer (SEPA, SWIFT), debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), and cash at our collection office in Tallinn. For large transactions we recommend a bank transfer.
10. Can I pay in cash and in which currencies?
Answer: Yes, cash payment is possible when collecting your order at our office. We accept euros (EUR) and US dollars (USD) within the limits set by European law for cash settlements.
Category 4: Delivery, collection and insurance
11. What are the delivery times for orders sent by post?
Answer: Delivery by insured post takes from 2 business days.
12. How quickly do you ship paid orders?
Answer: If the item is in stock at our warehouse (as shown in the item's status on the website), we ship it on the same business day provided the order is placed and paid before 14:00. If the order is placed after 14:00, dispatch depends on warehouse load, but we do everything possible to send the parcel as quickly as possible.
13. How can I monitor the packing and dispatch of my order?
Answer: We guarantee maximum transparency and security. When your order is dispatched, a video recording of the packing of your specific order at our warehouse is automatically uploaded to your Personal Account, together with a tracking number for following the parcel in the postal system.
14. How is delivery of precious metals insured?
Answer: All shipments are insured for 100% of the value of the goods. In the event of loss or damage to the parcel by the postal service, we take full financial responsibility and reimburse you the entire amount or send a duplicate order.
15. How can I collect my order in person?
Answer: You can select the self-collection option when placing your order. Collection takes place at our office at: Aia tn 5, Tallinn, Estonia. Please wait for notification that your order is ready for collection before visiting.
Category 5: Authenticity, buyback and resale
16. How is the authenticity of bars and coins guaranteed?
Answer: We source all products directly from the world's leading mints or from LBMA-certified refineries. All bars are supplied in original sealed CertiCard packaging with a unique serial number and security holograms.
17. What is LBMA certification and why is it important?
Answer: LBMA (London Bullion Market Association) is the London precious-metals market association. Refineries with LBMA Good Delivery status meet the strictest global standards for metal quality and purity. Products from these refineries (for example Valcambi, PAMP, Argor-Heraeus) are accepted by banks and dealers worldwide without additional testing.
18. Can I sell you gold bought from another dealer?
Answer: Yes. We buy back investment coins and bars purchased from any official dealer, after their authenticity has been confirmed by our experts.
19. How does the buyback-by-post procedure work?
Answer: We provide a preliminary valuation of your metal straight away (online or by phone). The buyback price is locked from the moment your parcel is accepted into the postal system (when the barcode is scanned at the post office). This protects you from rate fluctuations during transport.
20. Do you provide materials for simplified return shipping?
Answer: Yes, for the convenience of our regular customers we provide a ready-made shipping kit: a special protective safe-bag, a prepaid return-shipping label and detailed step-by-step instructions. The full return-shipping rules are provided together with the kit and can also be requested from our support team.
